Every one of our web sites needs some or all of these items.
Base site build
The base site build is common to all of the web sites we create. We setup your site and build it using our Plone development environment to give you complete control with a word-processor like editor to format text, and the ability to add links, images, videos, slideshows and content boxouts throughout.
The base build includes half a day's data entry or around 20 pages. If more is required there may be an additional cost.
The build also includes an accessibility information page and sitemap, along with a cookies permission screen and editable information page, which is required to comply with UK and EU cookie legislation. Also included is an enquiries form, company news and events areas if required.
This is highly flexible and can be tailored to your precise requirements, but for the sake of giving some reasonably accurate prices, we have created four bands:
- Express design - speedy and cost-effective - we create a design based on our express templates, your criteria, logo etc. One design is enough in 99% of cases.
Cost: £500 / design
- Custom design - fairly quick and good value, while providing plenty of scope for your input and feedback. We create up to two sets of design options and you get two opportunities to make change requests (we call them "rounds of revision"). A homepage slideshow of promotional images is available with custom designs.
- Optimum design - A great way to ensure you get exactly the design you want. We provide as many as three sets of design options, and you get as many opportunities as you need to make suggestions and change requests. A homepage slideshow of promotional images is available with custom designs.
- Bespoke design - The ultimate design process for those who want total control. We create sets of design options until you've got one you love, and we then revise it, in consultation with you, until you're totally delighted. The price quoted depends on the number of different types of pages we're to design to your requirements.

Please note that the cost of the design is in addition to the base site build price, unless you just want us to do a design, of course.
Sometimes you'll need a web page in place straight away - well before your new web site is designed and up and running. In these cases, we can provide a holding page with your logo and any other required imagery and text. This is usually included as a no cost item in our web design service, but where the holding page is not replaced within six months, we charge £500 to cover our design and build time for the page.

Homepage news flash
If you've got a news section on your site, you might want to have a news flash, listing and linking to the latest two or three news stories on your homepage. These can be static boxes or scrolling news tickers.

Our FAQs come in the form of expandable headlines, so when you click on a "question", it opens out to reveal the answer. This means the visitor to the FAQs page isn't confronted by a long, intimidating set of questions and answer, but an easily-scanned list of questions. Questions are also easy to organise into sections and subsections.
Its just as important to receive information as it is to give it. Attractive well laid-out forms can be instrumental to a website's success. Our forms will collate information and email it to you automatically. Alternatively we can create content from the data or save it to a database. We can even provide tools for more adventurous administrators to build their own forms on the fly.

There's no better way to show how much your customers appreciate your work, than with a few well chosen testimonials. Our testimonials package allows you to create a testimonials section on your site, and also to embed them in a special box which appears on the left or right hand column of your site. The box can appear on all pages throughout your site, or on whatever pages you select via a handy setup tool. A random testimonial from those on the site appears in the box, unless you have specifically added one to the page in question, in which case, the one you added will be displayed. You also have the option to animate the testimonials so that after a delay, the initial testimonial fades and is replaced by a second and a third and so on.

Intranet and security
An Intranet can be useful for all sorts of things - from document sharing to internal noticeboards. An extranet is very similar, but is also available outside your company office via login through the web site. The cost can vary depending on what is required. A single additional login, with a document sharing area might cost as little as £1000; while a multiple user, self-subscribe, multi-role security model on top of an internal noticeboard, document sharing area and events calendar would cost upwards of £4000.

These can add movement and interest to a variety of pages and almost always look great. They can be especially helpful on homepages. The cost depends on the complexity of the animation.

Bespoke database tables and/or content types
Our CMS system uses the Zope object oriented databse, so it stores information as content types, rather than in tables. If you have a bespoke data storage and display requirement (e.g. a bespoke client listings page, or customer record), the price varies on the complexity of the data. Similarly if you need an SQL database back end to your site data, we offer mySQL and postgreSQL, and the cost depends on the complexity of the tables required.

Logo design and branding
This is a bespoke process in much the same way as with site design and costs vary accordingly. If you want a text-only logo with little revision, the cost will be close to £300, whereas a multi-design-option, multi-revision logo design process, with artwork provided for vehicle decals, business card, comp slip and headed notepaper design, is likely to cost upwards of £1500.

If you want embedded video or audio on your site, or podcasts, you got it. With a little backend configuration you'll be able to give visitors to your site all the Quicktime, Windows Media, Flash video or podcasts you need.
With our powerful python-based image library (PIL) based solution, all you have to do is upload the images at their normal size, and our software will make them fit the layout and will display them in a variety of engaging ways, such as clickable thumbnails (as in our portfolio), or a fading slideshow.

Events and calendar
If you run an event-driven business or oganisation, you need to be able to flag them up on your site in a schedule or calendar. Our event management software allows you to do this easily, and can be extended to run your business diary.

Social and fun extras
Blogs are an excellent ways of keeping in touch with your customer base, while regularly adding content to keep Google interested in your site and help promote it up the search rankings.
These allow your customers to leave feedback about your services or related topics, and to discuss them among themselves. It gives new and existing customers a reason to return to your site, as well as adding lots of Google-friendly content.
Polls are a fun piece of interactivity, which can give you a snapshot of what your customers or visitors to your site think about a certain topic or service that you provide.
These are an easy and fun way to encourage visitors to your site to stick around for longer, and also to encourage them to tell their friends about your site. You can browse a selection of games we have built for clients in our Jam section. The price obviously depends on the complexity and ambition of the game, and whether it is a variation on an existing game or whether we have to build it from scratch.

Hosting and maintenance options
Our hosting service is fully managed, so you don't have to worry about a thing. We'll buy the domain, keep it renewed, organise DNS, email, make sure you've got enough disk space and bandwidth, and we're always there on the end of a phone to answer any questions or sort out any problems you may have.
As the name suggests, this is ideal for sole traders and SMEs. With it you get Domain Name Server administration and domain management (including renewal), email routing, plus full and incremental data backups, a 48 hour response to enquiries and requests, 100MB of disk space and 2GB of bandwidth per month.
Cost: £200 per annum
This is ideal for larger companies, corporations and organisations, or anyone who wants more from their hosting contract. With the corporate package, you get everything in the SME package, 24 hour response time (generally within 3 working hours), our site statistics package, a secure FTP account (if required), plus 500MB of disk space and 5GB of bandwidth per month.
Cost: £500 per annum
Where there are additional requirements, such as uptime guarantees, offsite backups, faster response times etc. we can put together a package to suit. The cost for this will vary, but let us know your needs, and we'll give you a very reasonable quote.
Cost: >£1500 per annum
If you would prefer to retain your own domain hosting and manage your DNS records elsewhere (pointing them to our server cluster) then we can set up virtual hosting for your web site. In this case the fees for the various options advertised above will be reduced by £25.

Additional disk space
Disk space is calculated on the size of your data in the Zope database, plus the size of files and templates used to display the data.
Cost: £25 per 250MB per annum
If you have heavy traffic on your site, it may become necessary to buy additional bandwidth to cover the amount of data being transferred across our network.
Cost: £50 per 2GB/month per annum
These are incredibly useful for keeping track of what's going on with your site. Figures are displayed numerically and in graphical form and include information such as pages viewed per day/week/month, visitors per day/week/month, most/least popular pages, entry and exit pages, most popular referring pages (where people are coming from when they come to your site) and most popular searches. We have two complementary sets of statistics - our own analysis of the web server logs and Google analytics.
Cost: EITHER web log analysis tool OR Google analytics - £100 per annum; Both web log analysis tool AND Google analytics - £150 per annum
We provide unlimited (within reason) email redirects for no charge, so you can set up as many email addresses as you need and point them to existing POP3 mailboxes or an Exchange Server. If you require POP3 mailboxes for email hosting, we can provide these, with their own built-in webmail facility allowing you to access your email from anywhere with an Internet connection.
Cost: £50 per POP3 mailbox per annum
We can register and manage as many domains as you'd like. The cost of registration and management of your primary domain is included in your hosting fees (though some domains such as .tv domains cost more to register and will incur a small extra cost). Secondary domains come with a small additional cost for registration and administration.
Cost: Secondary domains £15 per domain per annum (.tv and certain other domains are £50 pa)
We are always on hand to carry out essential work to your site, if you need us. Bugs are fixed for free, but updating your site, undoing mistaken deletions etc is all chargeable, as are small layout or functionality tweaks. We have a standard ad hoc maintenance rate, but our maintenance contracts offer better value and are a more effective way to cover yourself if you're going to need regular small changes to your site.
Ad hoc rate: £100/hour
This is our gold standard maintenance product. With Premium Maintenance you get:
- Our lowest hourly rate of £65/hour.
- Email acknowledgment of work requests within 1 working day of receipt.
- Minor work to commence within 5 working days of receipt of request (usually same day), or an estimate given for time to completion. More major work is quoted for separately outside the contract.
You specify the number of hours you require per quarter (minimum 3 hours) and a charge levied annually in advance, so for example, if you required two hours per month, you would pay £1560 per annum (£390 per quarter). Hours unused at the end of any quarter are lost. Extra hours are charged at the ad hoc rate of £100/hour
Alternatively, you can also prepay for hours or work with our Prepaid Updates packages. The more hours you buy, the cheaper the hourly rate.

Search engine optimisation and marketing
Search engine optimisation (SEO) and search engine marketing (SEM) can hugely increase your reach on the web. We undertake SEO consisting of site optimisation, keyword optimisation and link builder campaigns based on a monthly fee for a certain number of hours work. A weekly or monthly report keeps you on top of how the campaign is going. We undertake SEM work consisting of pay per click (PPC) campaigns and online advertising on a similar basis.
Cost: (typically) £500/month
We provide a variety of other services for which we charge an hourly rate
Data entry - the process of getting your text and images on to your web site. We do a certain amount of this within the different packages, so unless you've got a LOT of information, this isn't an issue: £55/hour
Copywriting and editing - where you haven't got the time to write the text for your site, we'll do it from notes, or edit your copy to make it web and search engine friendly: £80/hour
Photography - if you need product shots, location and scene-setting images or staff photos, we can provide an excellent photography service. We also have an extensive photo library of images which can be used on your web site within the price: £80/hour (subject to a minimum of four hours.)
